[ There had been at least one upside to waking up in the tunnels. It certainly makes traveling faster. Without consistent snowfall, he doesn't meet the same resistance out in the major residence area. Which means he's been jogging his way for as much as he can as soon as he figures out his own location. Ideally, he hopes to meet Jim at the hospital that night if the cadet can find his way there, too. He's not sure if that's going to be a thing for sure, but he's hoping for the best. At least this time, he makes a far better effort to keep him updated and keep in touch for as much as Jim seems to need from him. He knows how shook up he is. There's no way Jim could have hidden it and Zack gets why. The sooner one of them gets to him, the better.
So, it doesn't matter how his lungs are recovering from burning by the time he gets there or if his muscles ache. That doesn't stop him from being cautious at every new corner and especially at the hospital's entrance, but the edge he takes is double-edged.
